CANYONLANDS! The Ridge Route and out Horse Canyon
The final section of my 10-day backpacking trip in Canyonlands National Park in May of 2025. This episode features Days 9 and 10 as I finish the loop. Highlights of this section include Davis Canyon Rim, "Archview Ridge", Angel Arch, Castle Arch, Fortress Arch, Trail Fork Canyon, Horse Canyon, Paul Bunyan's Potty, and more. I'd never been along this ridge route down into Horse Canyon so it was a great way to finish the loop to end my hike -- despite the wind, warmth, and lack of water. There are so many great geological wonders and archaeological sites in this area! *** permit required for all backcountry camping in Canyonlands. Designated sites require use of a WAG bag and camping in Salt Creek also requires a Bear Canister. Much of Horse Canyon is off limits to camping -- see the official zone map.
