The Buddhist Holy Land in the Mist, Koyasan [Japan Travel 🇯🇵]

I strolled around traditional Buddhist-related spots in Koyasan, Wakayama Prefecture, including magnificent temples such as "Kondo" and "Kongobu-ji", "Tokugawa Clan Mausoleum" famous for its gorgeous and luxurious sculptures, "Kinrintou Pagoda" and "Ryūsen-in Temple" which were fantastical shrouded in mist, "Kiyotakainarijinja" where many torii gates stand side by side, and "Okuno-in Cemetery" where centuries-old giant cedars and countless tombstones stand, creating a mysterious and solemn atmosphere. 0:00 Opening 0:10 Daimon Gate 1:09 Kongobu-ji Chumon 1:28 Kongobu-ji Kondo 2:47 Hexagonal Pagoda 3:18 Sanno-in 3:45 Kongobu-ji Saito 4:14 Kongobu-ji Miedo 4:27 Kongobu-ji Danjo Garan 4:45 Kongobu-ji Daiedo 5:58 Kongobu-ji 6:36 Inside Kongobu-ji 8:57 Nan-in Temple 10:09 Tokugawa Clan Mausoleum 10:48 Kinrintou Pagoda 12:47 Ryūsen-in Temple 13:57 Honno-in Temple 15:04 Manihouto 15:21 Kiyotakainarijinja 17:02 Shojoshin-in 20:15 Eireiden 20:38 Okuno-in Cemetery 22:22 Mausoleums of Matsudaira Hideyasu 25:14 Mizumukejizo 25:42 Kōyasan Station 26:31 Gokurakubashi Station ◾️Kongobu-ji Kondo This is the main hall of Koyasan and an important hall standing at the center of "Danjo Garan", the place of its founding. Most of Koyasan's annual events are held here. The current building was rebuilt in 1932, and inside, the principal image of Akshobhya (Bhaisajyaguru) is enshrined, where you can see Buddhist statues made by Koun Takamura and magnificent murals painted by Buzan Kimura. ◾️Kongobu-ji This is the head temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect and the central place for conducting religious affairs for the entirety of Koyasan. It features "Banryutei", one of the largest rock gardens in Japan, which depicts a pair of dragons protecting the inner sanctuary amidst a sea of clouds. Inside the vast main hall, the highlights include numerous stunning sliding screen paintings created by painters of the Kano school, and a traditional large kitchen. ◾️Okuno-in Cemetery This is the largest holy land of Koyasan, where Kobo Daishi (Kukai) is believed to still be continuing his meditation (Nyujo) today, praying for the peace of humanity. Along the approximately 2-kilometer approach leading from Ichi-no-hashi Bridge to the mausoleum, centuries-old giant cedars tower high, and hundreds of thousands of tombstones stand, including the memorial towers of historical greats such as Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It is a space filled with a mysterious and solemn atmosphere. Thank you for watching! #japan #japantravel #japanvlog #sololeveling #koyasan #wakayama #holyland #buddhist #misterios
