They Said I Ruined This Speaker… Let’s Look At The Facts

For years, there has been ongoing criticism surrounding my speaker upgrades, crossover designs, measurements, and the motivations behind the work that I do. Recently, an older upgrade I developed for an Ascend Acoustics speaker became the center of another wave of controversy after being publicly reviewed and discussed online. In this video, I want to slow things down and walk through the actual timeline, the engineering decisions that were made, the revisions that followed, and why some of the claims being repeated online do not tell the full story. This is not a rant video. This is a technical discussion. We’ll look at: • the original goals of the upgrade • what changes were made and why • how measurements can be framed or misrepresented • the importance of context when evaluating speaker design • and why incomplete information can lead to false conclusions Whether you agree with me or not, I believe these conversations are important for the audio community—and I believe people deserve the full picture before forming conclusions.
