Man, I’m so disappointed, after the brilliance of Thunderbolts being a throw back, an emotionally resonant story as I talked about in my Thunderbolts* is What the MCU Forgot it Could Be video. It seems the MCU has narratively returned to form. Despite the brilliant production design, and aesthetic value, despite me being proven wrong about Pedro Pascal Reed Richards, or Joseph Quinn Johnny Storm, despite a great effort by Matt Shackman, Fantastic Four is Missing Something, hence why the video is called There’s Something Missing from Fantastic Four. You know the deal, we are all sick of bland MCU Movies, and even blander HiTop Films MCU Video Essays. This isn’t the case of MCU Bad, DC Good, and it ain’t a Fantastic Four Rant, this is a case of me wanting to love something, enjoying most of it, but knowing it could have been so much better. I bet there are so many Fantastic Four deleted scenes, bet their is an entire cut that solves most of my emotional issues, and makes Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, Reed Richards and Sue Storm feel like the family they claim to be. I feel like the producers must have been in the editing room for this one, turning something that was probably once Fantastic into a breezy, weightless The (Not So) Fantastic Four. What will happen when the Marvel Cinematic Universe keeps underperforming? Who knows. But hey, at least Galactus was cool, right?
