Masterfully Crafted | Apostasy v3.2.1 Review

Apostasy is a large-scale Skyrim Special Edition modlist that delivers modernized gameplay, high-fidelity visuals, and a deeply expanded world through a curated and cohesive experience. It features fast, responsive combat built around systems like MCO and TK Dodge, alongside the Adamant perk overhaul for a more balanced and streamlined progression system. Created by mod author aljo, the list incorporates a wide range of custom patches and original additions developed specifically for Apostasy, alongside overhauled cities, expanded quests, enhanced followers, and a richly detailed world designed to feel alive while remaining stable, immersive, and rewarding for long-term play. In this Skyrim Marathon review, we put Apostasy through a two-hour uninterrupted stress test to see how that vision holds up in real gameplay—from performance and stability to combat flow, traversal, and overall cohesion. During the run, we apply sustained pressure to: • Performance and stability • Overworld traversal and LODs • Combat feel and balance • UI clarity • Visual consistency ________________________________________ 🔧 Modlist Details Modlist: Apostasy Author: aljo Version: 3.2.1 Total Size: 390 GB Install Size: 215 GB Downloads: 175 GB Last Updated: April 6th, 2026 ________________________________________ 🖥 PC Specs Used CPU: Ryzen 9700X GPU: Sapphire Pulse AMD 9070 XT (16GB) RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 Storage: 2TB Crucial P3 Plus Monitor: LG Ultragear 32GR93U-B 31.6” 4K IPS ________________________________________ ⏱ Chapters – Skyrim Marathon Run 00:00 – Introduction 04:07 – Character Creation 14:53 – Alternate Start – Home Owner - Riften 17:00 – Riften and Stances Overview 23:57 – Riften to Whiterun Journey 49:35 – Valtheim Towers – Alternative Death and Combat 58:19 – Whiterun Outskirts and OBody demo 1:02:40 – Whiterun and Level Up 1:21:04 – Whiterun to Riverwood Journey 1:26:03 – Riverwood to Markarth Journey 1:40:39 – Old Hroldon 1:45:08 – Markarth 1:48:19 – Compass went missing – Quickloot? 1:51:47 – Stat bars went missing – Quickloot? - Restart 1:55:08 – Markarth to Dragon Bridge Journey – Some Combat 2:07:29 – Waterfall Jump – Getting Mauled by a Bear 2:12:02 – Dragon Bridge 2:18:06 – Solitude 2:24:35 – Solitude to Morthal – 2 Hours Up 2:18:06 – Morthal 2:31:10 – Outro/Verdict ________________________________________ 📊 Scoring Criteria Each modlist is scored from 1–5 across five categories: • ⚙ Performance • ⚔ Combat • 🖥 UI • 🌄 Visuals • 🧱 Stability The final score answers one question: Is this modlist worth committing hundreds of hours to — or should you move on? ________________________________________ Author Q & A: (aljo) 1. Question: What experience are you trying to build with this modlist? 2. Question: What design philosophy guides your decisions when developing it? Answer(for 1 and 2): My goal in building my modlists has always been to create a cohesive experience where there are a variety of systems that the player can interact with and experiment with. I am historically a big fan of ARPGs and MMOs and really like theorycrafting so a lot of my focus and inspiration is derived from my desire to try and make lists that have a lot of build options. 3. Question: Why should someone choose your list over other large Skyrim overhauls? Answer: I've been modding for awhile and have a pretty good reputation as a mod author, I'm pretty thorough in my list development and most people seem to give the feedback that my lists are well designed/developed. I don't really care if people choose to play my list over another big list or not, what I design might not be everyone's flavor and that's fine. My lists tend to skew a more on the difficult side and a lot of the core mods I use in Apostasy aren't "standard", they’re gameplay overhauls I built myself because I care a lot about the "custom" element of modlists (why would I make a modlist that anyone else could make if they had the time and desire). ________________________________________ 🔗 Links • Github: https://github.com/Oghma-Infinium/Apo... • Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspeci... • Patreon:   / aljoxo   • Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/aljoxo • Join the Lorebound Discord:   / discord
