NYSCOPBA Video Message re: HALT Act
NYSCOPBA officials react to the NYS Legislature's failure to address the significant rise in prison violence since the enactment of the HALT Act on April 1, 2022. Not only did the NYS Legislature fail to pass legislation which would commission a prison violence study before the enactment of HALT, but the Democratic Majority of the NYS Assembly and NYS Senate refused to allow Republican-introduced legislation to repeal the HALT Act to move forward in either chamber.
