Xiaomi Scooter 6 Ultra VS Segway MAX G3 (+ ZT3 Pro & 4 Ultra): range, speed, power & suspension test

The review includes: Range test Acceleration test (in multiple scenarios) Power test (hill-climb/slope overcoming) Suspension test in real-world urban conditions, including cobblestones, curbs, steps, jumps, and poor-quality roads For some tests, we also included the Segway ZT3 Pro and Xiaomi Scooter 4 Ultra. While the 4 Ultra is starting to show its age, the ZT3 Pro remains highly relevant, especially since many buyers will likely be choosing between the ZT3 Pro, MAX G3, and 6 Ultra. The ZT3 Pro and 6 Ultra are both marketed as off-road-oriented scooters and share very similar dimensions, weight, and specifications. Some of our key findings: 1. The power gap isn't nearly as big as the specs suggest The MAX G3 is advertised as being almost twice as powerful as the 6 Ultra, but real-world testing tells a different story. The 6 Ultra came surprisingly close in our hill-climb tests and even outperformed the G3 in certain situations. Both scooters delivered very similar results on 18% and 24% grades. Neither managed to fully conquer the 24% slope, although there were minor differences in climbing speed. Overall, there wasn't a clear winner: the G3 performed better in some scenarios, while the 6 Ultra came out ahead in others. The same applies to Boost Mode. The G3's boost is generally more aggressive and the difference compared to standard riding mode is more noticeable. However, on steep climbs, the 6 Ultra still managed to impress despite having a less dramatic boost effect. 2. The MAX G3 is still an acceleration monster — but the 6 Ultra is much closer than expected Fast acceleration has always been one of the G3's biggest strengths, and it still remains one of the quickest single-motor scooters we've tested. That said, the 6 Ultra delivered genuinely impressive acceleration for such a large and heavy scooter. In Boost Mode, acceleration times improved by roughly 30%, which is a substantial gain. This was true for both scooters. Our G3 is configured for a maximum speed of 45 km/h in the Segway app (although real-world top speed is closer to 40 km/h), so we also tested 0–25 km/h acceleration in this mode and saw significantly stronger results. If Xiaomi eventually allows speed-limit removal on the 6 Ultra, we suspect it could improve its acceleration figures even further. 3. More performance comes at the cost of range The stronger acceleration of the 6 Ultra had a noticeable impact on efficiency. Compared to the Xiaomi 4 Ultra, range dropped by roughly 30%, despite both scooters having similar battery capacities (keep in mind also around 10 kg difference between two). Interestingly, the 6 Ultra's real-world range ended up being very close to the MAX G3's. Range has always been one of the weaker points of the G3, and in our testing the two scooters performed similarly overall. However, if we're looking strictly at the numbers, the 6 Ultra came out slightly ahead. 4. Both suspensions are excellent, but they have different personalities Both scooters handled cobblestone roads remarkably well — and anyone who rides in the city knows that cobblestones can be far more uncomfortable than rough asphalt. The G3 felt smoother overall. We intentionally included unstabilized footage so viewers can judge for themselves how much vibration reaches the rider on identical road surfaces. The 6 Ultra, however, performed noticeably better on jumps and drops. Its suspension is stiffer and more robust, making it better suited to aggressive riding and off-road-style use. For everyday city cruising, we'd still give the edge to the G3 because of its softer and more comfortable suspension setup. For riders who frequently tackle rough terrain, curbs, and jumps, the 6 Ultra may be the more appealing option. More insides are coming soon.
