Join me for an 8¼‑mile spring walk beginning at the Aston Rowant Nature Reserve car park, a beautiful starting point surrounded by sweeping views of the Chilterns. From here, I follow the path around the edge of Grant’s Plantation before crossing over the M40 and heading downhill into the quiet, shaded tracks of Hailey Wood and Langleygreen Plantation, eventually emerging near Wellground Farm. My route then climbs steadily through Bowley’s Wood towards Lower Studdridge Farm, where I cross back under the M40 and continue north into Stokenchurch. Beyond the village, my walk leads to Hall Bottom Farm, then through a lovely chain of woodlands, Crowell Wood, Lott Wood, High Wood, and Kingston Wood, a peaceful stretch that brings me out close to the Stokenchurch BT Tower. A short road section guides me into Aston Wood, followed by the long descent of Aston Hill. At the bottom, I turn left onto a section of the Ridgeway National Trail, passing Cuckoo Pen, before tackling the final challenge of the day: the very steep climb up the front face of Beacon Hill. From the top, it’s a short walk back to the Nature Reserve car park where my journey began. This was a beautiful spring walk, with woodlands carpeted in bluebells, birds singing throughout, and sheep with their young lambs grazing in many of the surrounding fields.
