The Secret Garden | A Children's Book for Adults?

Hello everyone and welcome to this week's video! We're discussing The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett today, a children's book published in 1911. Interestingly enough, The Secret Garden wasn't necessarily intended for children upon publication, and there are some clear indications of this in the story. Hodgson Burnett had already made a reputation as an author of children's books, (thanks to the popular title Little Lord Fauntleroy) and since the protagonists of The Secret Garden are children, it's easy to think of it as being intended for that audience. In this video, we will be discussing the life of Frances Hodgson Burnett, and then we will move on to the story of The Secret Garden (there will be spoilers!). After that, I will move on to a discussion about the book and its themes and main characters. As always, feel free to leave a comment if you have any thoughts!
