The Land That Used To Be: The Story of Wilson Creek, Mortimer, Edgemont & the People Who Were There

I do not own the rights to any of these videos, but my I was converting the VHS tapes for my aunt and did not want them to be lost to history. I have not watched all of the videos that I have uploaded, so I can not guarantee the content. The Land That Used To Be The Story of Wilson Creek, Mortimer and Edgemont, and the People Who Were There Once upon a time, shortly after the start of the 20th century, there was a little world of its own in northwestern Caldwell County, NC. It was the Wilson Creek Valley. It was the home of the timber town of Mortimer and the resort village of Edgemont, two miles up the creek. Several thousand people lived there. Hundreds of people worked there, cutting timber and sawing it in the W. M. Ritter Lumber Co. band mill. Millions of board feet of lumber were hauled out by train to meet the demands of a hardwood lumber-hungry nation. Today, there are fewer than 20 year-round residents. What happened? This program answers that question and others you may have about a part of Caldwell County life that is rapidly fading into the pages of history. We hope that history will not be forgotten.
