Today I took the drone out over one of the strangest forgotten landmarks sitting just outside *Laughlin, Nevada* — the abandoned **Emerald River Resort**, a massive casino and resort project that was supposed to become one of the next major attractions along the Colorado River… but never became what developers envisioned. Originally planned as a luxury resort destination near Laughlin’s growing casino corridor, Emerald River Resort was intended to bring new tourism, entertainment, and expansion to the area. Millions of dollars were invested into development, construction began, structures were put into place, and then… everything stopped. Financial troubles, development issues, and changing market conditions eventually left the project unfinished, abandoned, and slowly being reclaimed by the harsh Mojave Desert environment. Now what remains is essentially a giant skeleton of what could have been — concrete structures, unfinished buildings, empty lots, and the eerie reminder of how quickly massive projects can collapse and disappear. It’s a fascinating piece of forgotten Nevada history hiding in plain sight near one of the Southwest’s busiest gambling destinations.
