Exploring Fort Mojave & Beale’s Crossing 🌵#FortMojave #BealesCrossing #ColoradoRiver

Ride to Beale's Crossing & the Fort Mojave Ruins | Along the Colorado River Today's ride follows the Colorado River to two important pieces of Southwest history: Beale's Crossing and the site of the old Fort Mohave ruins. Long before bridges crossed the Colorado River, Beale's Crossing was one of the most important river crossings in the region. Named after explorer and surveyor Edward Fitzgerald Beale, the crossing became part of the route used by emigrants, soldiers, miners, and traders traveling west during the mid-1800s. Beale's Wagon Road, surveyed in the late 1850s, helped connect the American frontier and included the famous experiment of using camels as pack animals in the Southwest desert. Beale's Crossing sat near a natural crossing point on the Colorado River and became a key transportation corridor before modern roads and bridges existed. Thousands of travelers passed through this area seeking opportunity in California, Arizona, and Nevada. Nearby stood Fort Mojave, established in 1859 during conflicts between the U.S. Army and local tribes. The fort was built to protect travelers along the river and important wagon routes crossing the desert. Over the years it served as a military outpost, supply station, and later became the site of a government-run boarding school. Today, little remains of the original fort, but the surrounding landscape still tells the story. Standing along the river, it's easy to imagine steamboats moving up the Colorado, wagon trains waiting to cross, soldiers patrolling the frontier, and generations of Native peoples whose history in this region stretches back thousands of years. This ride follows a route where history, desert scenery, and the Colorado River all come together—offering a glimpse into a time before highways, casinos, and modern cities transformed the region. If you enjoy motorcycle rides, Arizona history, Old West landmarks, hidden local history, and exploring forgotten places, you're in the right place. #FortMohave #BealesCrossing #ArizonaHistory #ColoradoRiver #BullheadCity #FortMojave #OldWestHistory #MohaveValley #DesertDrift360 #MotorcycleAdventure #AdventureRide #ArizonaBackroads #HiddenHistory #HistoricArizona #ExploreArizona
