【石鎚山】遥か四国、西日本最高峰を歩く【山ごはん：フィッシュカツうどん】_2026.05.01-02

In early May, I hiked Mount Ishizuchi during a trip to Shikoku. It's one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and the highest peak in western Japan. Although the first half of Golden Week wasn't blessed with good weather, the day I attempted to reach the summit of Mount Ishizuchi was blessed with clear skies, making the long journey to Shikoku well worth it. Reaching the famous view of Mount Tengu from Mount Misen was incredibly moving. On the first day, I climbed from the bottom without using the ropeway and stayed overnight at the Jojusha shrine halfway up the mountain. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the staff were very kind – it was a wonderful experience. Because you can start climbing before the first ropeway departure, it was quiet and pleasant despite being the first day of Golden Week, so I highly recommend it. Since I was based in Tokushima, I ate Tokushima's specialty, fish cutlet udon, at the summit.
