Cognitive impairment is one of the most common neurological disorders in clinical practice, especially among elderly patients. The most common causes of cognitive impairment are Alzheimer's disease and cerebrovascular diseases. In recent years, special attention has been paid to so-called subjective cognitive impairment, when complaints of cognitive decline are not confirmed by objective test results. Assessing a patient's cognitive function is an integral part of the clinical examination of their neurological status. The quantitative and qualitative characteristics of detected cognitive impairments play a significant role in the syndromic, topical, nosological, and differential diagnosis of nervous system diseases. Differential diagnosis between Alzheimer's disease and vascular cognitive impairments is essential for selecting the most appropriate patient management strategy, prognosis, and counseling relatives. Differential diagnosis is based on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of cognitive impairments, analysis of other neurological symptoms, and neuroimaging data. Physicians from the following specialties are invited to participate: neurology, geriatrics, general practice (family medicine), and internal medicine.
