Hospital administrators emphasized that shortages can affect the quality of care and place additional pressure on doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who must manage large patient volumes with limited resources. Following the tour, Dr. Baryomunsi acknowledged the challenges facing the hospital and stressed the importance of strengthening Uganda's public healthcare system. He noted that regional referral hospitals play a critical role in delivering specialized medical services and should receive the resources necessary to meet increasing demand. The minister said the concerns raised during the visit would be shared with the relevant government ministries and agencies responsible for healthcare planning and funding. He emphasized that improving health services remains an important priority, especially as Uganda's population continues to grow. Health workers welcomed the minister's visit, saying it provided an opportunity for government leaders to witness the realities they face every day. They expressed hope that the inspection would translate into practical solutions, including additional funding, recruitment of more medical personnel, expansion of hospital facilities, and better availability of medicines and equipment.
