From Benin to Japan: David Kpondehou’s Mission to Connect Africa and Japan

In this episode of From Africa, With Purpose, we meet David Kpondehou from Benin, President and Founder of Africa Diaspora Network Japan (ADNJ). David came to Japan in 2017 through the Awaji Youth Federation program and has since become one of the leading voices connecting African communities, Japanese society, and Africa-Japan business opportunities. In this conversation, David shares his journey from Benin to Japan, why he chose Japan, and how his passion for social entrepreneurship led him to create a platform where Africans in Japan can come together, support each other, and change the narrative about Africa. He also talks about ADNJ’s activities, including Discover Africa, African food events, African Business Forum, Africa Expo, African Dining Hall, and youth initiatives connected to TICAD. For young Africans, David’s message is powerful: Be ambitious. Dream beyond yourself. Study not only for your family, but also for your country, Africa, and the world. Use technology, research, and curiosity to go beyond what is in front of you. He also reminds African students coming to Japan that language is important. You can survive without Japanese, but learning the language opens many more opportunities. This episode is about leadership, community, Africa-Japan relations, business, culture, and the future of young Africans in Japan. Featuring: David Kpondehou from Benin President and Founder, Africa Diaspora Network Japan (ADNJ) Topics covered: Coming from Benin to Japan Life and work in Japan Africa Diaspora Network Japan Changing the narrative about Africa African business and culture in Japan Why Japan matters for Africa Advice for African students The importance of Japanese language Africa-Japan youth and business opportunities Subscribe to Study in Japan for Africa for more real stories from African students, professionals, leaders, and changemakers in Japan. #FromAfricaWithPurpose #StudyInJapan #Benin #AfricaDiasporaNetworkJapan #ADNJ #JapanAfrica #AfricanStudents #AfricanDiaspora #TICAD #AfricaJapan #StudyAbroad #Leadership
