HMKG 2008 First Drill: Lillehammerreveljen, Part 1

This was our very first performance, March 26th 2008. This was the result of almost 3 months of training, roughly 12 hours a day of training, if you include meals and running/strength training. That was mostly what our days were like until June, after which we were mostly abroad performing in military tattoos. This performance was complete amateur hour compared to what we did later, but for me it was the one that was the most fun. We were all, in the Drill Platoon at least, spectacularly nervous. One of the coolest moments in my life probably, even though I didn't enjoy my time in the Drill Platoon in general, I really loved the actual performances in the beginning. This was like the final round in the Rocky films, the culmination of a lot of effort and training, we had half an hour to show what we were really made of. According to our officers, this was the best performance done by a contingent of the King's Guard at this arrangement, which has been held annually for 5 years or so I believe. Sadly, we didn't do the blind throw, which is usually a part of the drill, because the officers decided against it. I will post other performances of the same drill later in the season to show you guys how we evolved as a platoon and company.
