12” Balsa HLG/CLG - Build, First Flights, and Comparison to Previous Model

Hey guys! I must first apologize to any regular viewers that this video is coming out a day late. I was simply swamped with work on Saturday and could not upload. That aside, I hope this video is enjoyable nevertheless. In it, you will see an overview of my latest build, a 12” balsa glider, in my usual slideshow format. The aircraft was something of an experiment, as it was an all-wood reproduction of a design which had previously been very successful when made out of much lighter foam. I was interested to see the difference in performance when the airfoil thinned out and the flying weight went up. The video shows a flight of the original foam glider for comparison, and the difference between the two aircraft harkens back to some of the fundamentals of designing free-flight gliders. Watch till the end for my final thoughts on the performance change and the reasons behind it! If you enjoyed the video, a like is always highly appreciated! And you can subscribe to my channel to see more aviation videos released every weekend! Thanks for watching!
