Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway - Autumn Gala - 2024

After visiting the 2024 Cotswold Festival of Steam, it seemed foolish not to attend the autumn showcase gala. So, a short trip to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, on the last day of British Summer Time. Featuring an all GWSR resident line-up, locomotives running were: GWR 2807, 7820 Dinmore Manor, GWR 3850, SR 35006 Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co, a Class 117 DMU, BR Peak 45149 and BR Class 20/137. Relaid on what was once the mainline between Cheltenham and Stratford upon Avon, the GWSR cuts along the west side of the Cotswolds. It features massive embankments, deep cuttings, pretty stations, and Stanway Viaduct. But there’s very little elevation change. This is the first gala for recently overhauled GWR 3850, and the last gala before 7820 Dinmore Manor undergoes a heavy overhaul. 45149 was subbed in for D6948 at the eleventh hour. Filmed on Saturday October 26th, the weather was cloudy in the morning, improving to perfect in the evening.
