Il Museo della Navigazione Fluviale a Battaglia Terme (Padova)
The Museum of River Navigation is located in Battaglia Terme. The centre of Battaglia developed along the canal dug by the Commune of Padua between 1189 and 1201, to create a river system that connected Padua to Monselice, Este and the area of the #Euganean Hills to the sea by exploiting a pre-existing waterway formed by the Vigenzone and the Canale di Cagnola. The Battaglia Canal was fed by the waters of the #Bacchiglione, which were partially diverted, before entering Padua and then reuniting at Bovolenta with those of the Bacchiglione passing through the city. Battaglia, in this way, became a strategic river port initially inhabited by #barcarcaroli, cavallanti and #squeri workers. On the ‘burci’ were loaded trachyte ‘masegne’ from the Colli and agricultural products to easily supply Padua and Venice by water. As a testimony to the history, activities and people of this place, in 1979 the Museum that we visit today was born on the initiative of Riccardo Cappellozza. https://museonavigazione.eu/it/ Edited by Prof. Bruno Suman Video editing: Alessio Brombin #battagliaterme #fluvialmuseum #paesaggivenetidascoprire The content disseminated by the channel Paesaggi Veneti da Scoprire cannot be used for the purpose of training artificial intelligence systems.
