Theology needs an address. It needs a face. In this Week 2 study of "Shining as Stars," Pastor Charles Williams walks through Philippians 2:19–30 (NIV) and introduces us to the two men Paul holds up as the mind of Christ in flesh and blood: Timothy, whose soul was cut from the same cloth as Paul's (the Greek word is isopsychos — equal-souled), and Epaphroditus, who gambled his life for the work of Christ (the gambler's word paraboleuomai, which the early church later borrowed to name the parabolani — Christians who nursed plague victims at the peril of their own lives). Paul's closing command is unmistakable: honor people like him.
