TD Jakes Sickness Confirmed Everything I Said Would Occur

A few weeks ago, I pointed out something that many people were noticing but not really saying out loud: TD Jakes did not sound like the old TD Jakes. His voice sounded weaker, his energy seemed different, and he appeared to have gone more behind the scenes. I said then that I was not making fun of him, and I am still not making fun of him now. Sickness is serious. Health issues are serious. We should pray for people, even when we strongly disagree with their doctrine. Original video:    • Bishop Orin Perry | Holy Convocation 2026   But now, at a recent Higher Ground Holy Convocation service, Bishop Sherman Watkins announced that TD Jakes was unable to attend because he was having a medical procedure. Watkins said Jakes told him he did not know how the procedure would affect him, and that this was the first time Jakes had ever missed being by his side at the conference. That confirmed what I had already pointed out weeks ago: something clearly seemed different physically. The point of this video is not to mock TD Jakes. The point is to examine the bigger issue: what happens when Word of Faith and prosperity preachers, who often teach healing, breakthrough, speaking things into existence, and victory over sickness, are faced with the same human frailty everyone else faces? The Bible never teaches that Christians will never get sick. The Bible never teaches that if you have enough faith, you can simply avoid suffering, disease, weakness, or death. Scripture teaches that our bodies are wasting away, but our inner man is being renewed day by day. Paul had afflictions. Timothy had stomach issues. Epaphroditus was sick near death. Faithful believers suffer. Faithful believers get sick. Faithful believers die. Our hope is not that we will never face sickness. Our hope is Jesus Christ, the resurrection, and the life. In this video, we look at TD Jakes’ recent absence, the comments from Bishop Watkins, the earlier concerns I raised about his voice and physical appearance, and why this matters when evaluating prosperity preaching, Word of Faith theology, and false promises about healing. Again, I am not rejoicing in anyone’s sickness. I pray TD Jakes recovers and that the Lord shows him mercy. But this should also be a sobering reminder: no preacher is above the frailty of the flesh, no amount of fame can stop mortality, and no prosperity gospel can override the sovereign will of God. The issue is not whether TD Jakes is sick. The issue is what his theology has taught people to believe about sickness, healing, faith, and God.
