‘All Bark, No Bite’: NATO Nation Breaks Ranks Over Ukraine, Opposes Coalition | Big Boost For Putin?

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has dismissed the Western-led “Coalition of the Willing” as a talking shop that has produced “zero” results. Babis also rejected joining a newly announced European anti-ballistic missile initiative, describing it as another declaration from which “nothing will come out.” His government has ruled out sending Czech troops to Ukraine and says Prague’s ammunition programme can continue only if other participating states finance it. Bulgaria has also withdrawn from the coalition, with Rumen Radev arguing that continued military assistance would prolong the conflict rather than produce peace. Hungary and Slovakia have similarly resisted additional weapons and funding commitments. Meanwhile, Moscow has warned that any NATO contingent deployed inside Ukraine—even after a ceasefire—would be treated as a legitimate military target. As more European governments reject open-ended commitments to Kyiv, the cracks in the West’s Ukraine strategy are becoming increasingly difficult to conceal.
