A RIDE OF A LIFETIME! The Ultimate Welsh Loop

Day 3 of our Welsh adventure takes five intrepid mates deep into the heart of some of the best riding territory the UK has to offer. We roll out from our base in Rhayader and point the bikes north, chasing the promise of Snowdonia’s dramatic peaks and legendary roads. The morning starts with a stretch of major A-roads—nothing too wild, just the quickest way to get us to the real gems. And the first of those is the iconic Horseshoe Pass. This sweeping mountain road climbs to around 1,400 feet, curling around the hillside in a natural horseshoe shape. It’s famous for its flowing bends, stunning views across the Dee Valley, and its status as a pilgrimage route for bikers from all over the UK. It’s the kind of road that makes you grin inside your helmet. From there, we continue our push toward Snowdonia, dropping into the vibrant town of Betws-y-Coed—a true biking mecca. Surrounded by forests, rivers, and rugged peaks, it’s the perfect spot to grab a break, soak in the scenery, and recharge before the next leg of the journey. We wrap up this episode as we leave Betws-y-Coed behind, ready to take on the mighty Snowdon and the legendary Pen-y-Pass.
