Is it worth taking the entrance exam in 2026? The EsPCEx (Brazilian Army Preparatory School) has seen a significant drop in the number of applicants in recent years. After reaching approximately 44,000 candidates in 2022, the exam had around 23,000 applicants in 2026, the lowest number in the last decade. But what does this really mean? In this video, I share my analysis of this reduction in interest in the exam and explain why, in my view, this data should not be the main factor in deciding whether a military career is worthwhile. I also answer questions that many candidates have asked: Has the competition for the EsPCEx exam decreased? Has the exam become easier because of the drop in applicants? Is it still worth taking the EsPCEx entrance exam? Is a military career still a good option? How to decide if the EsPCEx makes sense for you? Throughout the video, I reflect on the importance of choosing a profession based on its values, routine, opportunities, and personal goals, and not just on the number of people interested in it. Many people look for a simple answer, such as "yes, it's very worthwhile" or "no, it's no longer worth it." But the reality is that neither of these answers works for everyone. A military career offers stability, quality training, remuneration, benefits, and opportunities for growth. At the same time, it demands discipline, dedication, relocation, a rigid hierarchy, and a lifestyle that not everyone desires. Therefore, the decision should not be based on the number of applicants, the competition, or the opinions of others. It should be based on a much more important question: does this career align with what I want for my life? If the answer is yes, military entrance exams remain an excellent opportunity. If the answer is no, it doesn't make sense to enter just because the competition has decreased or because someone said it's "worth it." Ultimately, there is no single exam that is good for everyone. There is the exam that makes sense for your goals, your values, and the kind of life you want to build. Choosing a career is a long-term decision. Therefore, before looking at the competition, look at the profession. After all, the exam lasts a few hours, but the career can last decades. 👉🏻 How the EsPCEx entrance exam works: The main stage of the public service exam is the objective test. In the case of the Prep exam, it is divided into two days (first day: Portuguese, Physics, Chemistry, and Essay; second day: Mathematics, History, Geography, and English). Candidates who pass the objective test advance to the next stages. These are not classificatory, only eliminatory (physical aptitude test, health inspection, etc.). 📎After passing the written exam, the candidate undergoes: Health Inspection (IS) – medical and laboratory exams to verify physical conditions. Physical Aptitude Test (EAF / TAF) – tests such as a 12-minute run, push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. They live in a military boarding school regime, with strict discipline and an intense routine. They study civilian subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Humanities) and military subjects (drill, leadership, field instruction).
