Urban Fly Carpin Houston

Wind was blowing and i had a free day to go poke around with my buddy Jesse. Figured the grass carp would be looking up especially with elm tree seeds dropping and they were! We were greeted with top water bass eats, redfish and tilapia rejections, shots at smallmouth buffalos and extremely large alligator gar but the Grass carp are the star of this one. Pretty much all Houston bayous have carp and typically they are grass carp forward with the occasional common carp and tons of buffs get out there and see what you can find and catch! Recommend a 6 to 8wt depending on the size of carp youre seeing. Float line and several different carp bugs but for sure olive Brasshawks, weighted carp bugs and deer hair balls/hoppers/caddis(something that floats) on a size 8 carp hook. Good luck!
