Big Boy #4014 on the Reading & Northern Railroad - Part 2 of 4 | June 14, 2026

Union Pacific Big Boy #4014 had another day of side-by-side action with Reading & Northern #2102 on June 14, 2026. This was the only day of UP's entire coast-to-coast tour where passengers got to ride behind the Big Boy. Those lucky folks were treated to a one-way ride from Nesquehoning to Pittston with all fares benefitting the non-profit Union Pacific Museum in Council Bluffs, Iowa. My work duties for the day involved working with ‪@Poconotvnetwork‬ for their live broadcast in Nesquehoning for the Big Boy's departure in the morning, followed by a drive to Pittston to catch all of the action there with them. Luckily that still gave me a lot of time to film and enjoy the trains. Oh yeah, and then there's Russ! He's back with his Bob Barker microphone today floating along on Cloud Nine after the Knicks won the NBA Championship last night. I also want to thank my friend, Mike Stanislaw (‪@smike01‬) for the amazing shots he contributed to this video to really round out the day's action. 0:00 intro / 2102's train arrives in Nesquehoning 2:51 Big Boy near Lake Drive, Rush Township 4:15 Big Boy arrives next to 2102 in Nesquehoning 5:16 Russ had a BIG day yesterday! 6:29 2102's 5-minute warning 6:57 2102 departs Nesquehoning 9:33 Big Boy moves from Track 1 to Track 2 16:43 tour buses arrive for UP Museum trip 17:37 Big Boy pulls forward for boarding 19:23 2102 emerges from the Rockport Tunnel 20:39 Big Boy departs Nesquehoning 21:40 Big Boy emerges from the Rockport Tunnel 22:51 2102 arrives in Pittston 24:55 meet Ed Dickens' dog Harrison! 25:28 R&N heads to the wye 26:43 Big Boy arrives in Pittston 29:23 R&N and Big Boy wye their trains 45:16 Big Boy pulls back into the Pittston station 48:48 checking in with Russ 49:25 Big Boy departs Pittston 55:18 the dam joke 55:55 2102 arrives for boarding 58:06 bidding farewell to Russ for the day 58:17 2102 departs Pittston 1:00:41 Hyce! 1:01:26 end screen https://www.buymeacoffee.com/jamiemakin These railroad adventures burn up cash like 2102 burns up coal on the mainline! Vehicle expenses, camera and computer equipment, file storage space, and food along the way are skyrocketing in price. It’s not in my nature to ask for help, but if you’d like to make a donation as a thank you if you enjoyed this content it will help keep this channel chugging down the tracks.
