Solo Hiking Pikes Peak via Barr Trail

Hiking Pikes Peak via Barr Trail. I started the trail at around 5:30AM, and made it to the summit in about 5 hours and 40 minutes. The hike itself is pretty simple with no real technical spots. You’re just on a trail the entire way, but you are going up 7500 ft of elevation, just over a long period of time. But you won’t really feel that until you get above tree line, or around 2-3 miles from the summit. I also stopped at Bar Camp for a cup of coffee. This sits at around the 6 mile mark, and a cup of coffee is $1. Not sure if they take card, but they also have snacks and gatorade’s and stuff if you don’t want coffee. Go inside, say Hi, the caretakers are always super friendly people. There’s also a bathroom here, which makes it a good break spot to eat and prepare yourself for the last half of the hike. This was the first time I took the Cog train down. The Cog cost $35 for one way, you just have to find the conductor at the top and tell him you hiked up and want a ride down. He’ll take some type of collateral like a credit card or something and then you pay at the bottom.
