Nearly two decades after the murder of businesswoman Myriam Fefer, Ariel Bracamonte, who now prefers to be called Ariel Fefer, has returned to Peru determined to continue the search for justice for his mother's murder. In an exclusive interview with Panorama, he stated that his main objective is to identify and punish the mastermind behind the homicide, which occurred on August 15, 2006. Ariel recalled that he was only 17 years old when he found his mother dead in the family home in San Isidro, an event that shocked the entire country. During the investigation, the Prosecutor's Office accused his sister, Eva Bracamonte, as the alleged mastermind of the crime; however, after spending four years in prison, she was acquitted by the Peruvian justice system. The businesswoman's son also revealed that he now uses the surname Fefer and no longer identifies himself as Bracamonte. In an interview with journalist Karina Novoa, he explained that he made that decision after his own father publicly accused him on television of being involved in his mother's murder, an accusation that, he maintained, profoundly affected his life. A CALL TO HIS SISTER Although the hitman who carried out the crime is serving a sentence, Ariel believes the case remains unsolved. Therefore, he reiterated that he will continue searching for answers and even sent a message to his sister, Eva Bracamonte. "Eva, if you want to help me find our mother's killer, call me. You know where to find me. We can work together," he said to the Panorama cameras.
