I bought a house in Spain. Squatting is a common practice in Spain: anyone who has been in a house for more than 48 hours has the right to reside there. So how do I protect myself? Standard building insurance protects against fire, storms, plumbing damage, flooding, burglary, and with the added inventory insurance, also against theft. I also have anti-squatter insurance. I'll make a separate video about that. I consulted various brokers and chose the best insurance for me. Funny, you don't have to sign much. As soon as the insurance company deducts the first amount, the house is insured. Many houses in Spain don't have any insurance at all. Unlike in Germany, where almost every house is insured. I personally recommend insuring your house against loss. Here are my tips. In addition to building insurance, I also have squatter insurance. This helps with clearing the house. Also important are camera surveillance, motion detectors, an alarm system, grilles on windows and doors, security guards, and vigilant neighbors. Anyone who breaks into my house, I guarantee they won't have any fun :-) Absolutely not. I won't reveal any more at this point. Anti-squatter insurance can, for example, starve squatters. They won't get pizza delivered, nor will they be able to leave the house. Anyone who leaves is guaranteed not to get back in. And anyone who's inside won't get anything from the outside. No water, no electricity, no food - after three days, they leave voluntarily - and can't take anything with them.
