The first few times she called me I didn't hear her, but as soon as she said "Daddy, come here .. I need you" it was like my spirit heard and I could feel the pain and fear coming from Maddie. For the first 3 years of her life, all she had to do was call my name once and I was right there to her rescue, but this time I fell short. It killed me to watch this, but at the same time, I learned something. What I learned I can't exactly put into words, it's just something I feel in my heart. This transition of Maddie sleeping in her own room has been tough for her and for me, but we are both learning and growing from this experience. One day, Maddie will spread her wings to do so many things where she will need me and I'll be right there for her. I'm sure there will also be times where I think she needs me and she doesn't.
