This is the well-known August Ludwig Schlözer, incidentally, one of the compilers of the history of the Russian state. And it doesn't matter that the ruling house of Romanov entrusted this task to a man who not only hadn't read ancient chronicles, but who couldn't even learn Russian, despite living in Russia until the end of his days! In fact, the topic of the origin of the Slavs and Slavic culture is one of the most complex in modern historical scholarship. This is because, according to the official version, the first Slavic peoples literally appeared out of thin air. That is, until a certain point, they didn't exist at all, and then suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Do you believe this is possible? If not, give the video a thumbs up. And today, many continue to believe this is how it really happened. And this despite the vast amount of information proving otherwise. In this video, we will present facts that official historians may not like. Of course, we mustn't forget that many ancient sources have disappeared or been destroyed. The famous libraries of Alexandria, Constantinople, and Athens burned. Traces of the book depositories of Ivan the Terrible and Yaroslav the Wise have been lost. And how many other valuable chronicle materials were destroyed in Rus'! After all, they were literally destroyed by the cartload. But, despite everything, much has survived. And here's the interesting thing: evidence of the antiquity of the Slavic peoples, their traditions, and culture appeared even in antiquity. But for some reason, academic historians ignore it. Herodotus himself provided one of the first descriptions of the ancient inhabitants of the Black Sea region, outlining their appearance and traditions, and even highlighting their distinctive art: "It consists in not allowing any enemy who attacks their country to escape." Almost two and a half millennia later, the renowned King of Prussia, Frederick II, practically echoed these words: "Avoid confrontation with a cruel and invincible people. The Russians are descended from the Scythians who destroyed the Roman Empire..." Mauritius the Strategos (6th-7th century AD, Byzantium), who wrote the famous treatise on military art, "Strategikon," reports that "the Slavic and Antean tribes... are numerous and hardy" (how did they manage to become such a numerous tribe, if they only appeared in the 6th century!) He further writes: "they easily endure heat, cold, rain, nakedness, and food shortages"... "they are kind and friendly to foreigners who come to them. They do not hold captives indefinitely, like other tribes, but, having set a precise time limit for them, they leave it to their discretion: either they wish to return home for a certain ransom, or they remain there as free men and friends..." Have you read anything like this in your textbooks? A little earlier, the Byzantine historian and writer Procopius of Caesarea (507–565) made a nearly identical statement: "Their laws forbid them from attacking others to seize their property and people, just as they forbid human trafficking. Therefore, they have no slaves, but all work without distinction of position or rank..."
