Why the Advice on Bedsharing Depends on Which Country You're In

Follow along with blog posts on my website: http://babybiology.co.uk 😁 If you've googled bedsharing, you'll know the experience — you go in for a clear answer and come out more confused. That's not an accident. It reflects a genuine divide in how countries interpret the same evidence. The AAP says it cannot recommend bedsharing under any circumstances. The UK, Spain, and Norway no longer advise against it when no hazards are present. In this video I break down what the hazardous circumstances actually are, what the research shows for breastfeeding mothers specifically, and why Professor Helen Ball at Durham University argues that blanket messaging may itself create risk. This is not medical advice. It's about understanding the evidence so you can make an informed decision for your family. Sources referenced: AAP Safe Sleep Guidelines (2022) Ball, H.
