Everything Must Be Perfect - Four Luxury Homes Build Diary #13

In Build Diary #13, we're making the final preparations before construction finally starts above ground. Before a single concrete block is laid, every wall, corner, doorway and drainage connection must be accurately set out to ensure the entire house is built exactly as designed. In this episode, we follow the setting-out process as the engineer marks the foundations using shot-fired nails, string lines and coloured paint to identify the precise locations of the external walls, internal walls and drainage runs. We also use laser levels to check the finished foundation levels, ensuring the concrete is within tolerance and ready for the next stage of construction. These final quality checks are essential, as even small inaccuracies at foundation level can have significant consequences as the build progresses. Although much of this work goes unnoticed once the house is complete, it's one of the most important stages of the entire project and lays the groundwork for everything that follows. Build & Design follows the complete construction of four high-specification family homes from an empty plot through to completion, sharing practical construction knowledge, design insights and the real-world decisions involved in professional property development. If you enjoy construction, architecture, engineering, property development and seeing how quality homes are built from the ground up, subscribe and follow the journey as we move into the next exciting stage of the build. #BuildAndDesign #BuildDiary #Construction #PropertyDevelopment #Drainage #Sewers #Groundworks #HouseBuilding #NewBuild #Architecture #Engineering #LuxuryHomes #BuildingSite #constructionlife
