On the Greek island of Ikaria, just a short distance from Turkey, 1 in 3 people lives beyond the age of 90. But how? I went to Ikaria to find out for myself. 😊 Ikaria is an island in the Aegean Sea with a population of 8,500. But this island holds a secret. The ferry from Karlovassi Port in Samos to Evdilos Port in Ikaria costs €6.50 one way. The journey takes 1.5 hours. 📌 Ferries to Samos are available from Kuşadası and Seferihisar. The trip from Kuşadası takes 1 hour and costs between €37 and €45 one way. From Seferihisar, the journey also takes 1 hour and costs €30 one way. 📌 There are also ferry services to Ikaria from Mykonos. 📌 You can also reach Ikaria via connecting flights from Athens. 🛃 Visa As Turkish citizens, we need a Schengen visa to enter Greece. No visa is required for green passport holders. Requires a short but mildly challenging walk to reach. Famous for its turquoise water and rocky formations. No facilities. 📍 ARMENISTIS BEACH – The beach in our village. Small but delightful. No facilities, but there are free umbrellas. 📍 MESAKTI BEACH – Like Çeşme’s Ilıca Beach — white sand, turquoise water, wide and spacious. Ideal for families with children. There’s a place to rent sunbeds on the beach. 🍽️ Taverns and cafés we visited in Ikaria Portions are large in Ikaria, and the atmosphere is friendly.
