山海经 — THE CLASSIC OF MOUNTAINS AND SEAS | Chapter 5: The Central Mountains | 中山经

The ancient traveller had walked south, west, north, and east. Now he turned to the centre — the heart of everything. In the Central Mountains he found 帝江 — the most enigmatic creature in all the ancient world. No eyes. No ears. No mouth. No face. Six legs. Four wings. It cannot see. It cannot hear. It cannot speak. And yet — it knows music and dance. At the centre of the ancient world lives a creature that experiences joy without any of the senses we use to perceive it. He found the Transformation Snake — human face, serpent body, bird wings, its voice like a roaring flood. He met Jimeng the Dragon God who governs all the great rivers. He walked through forests of sacred trees that cure nightmares and make voices beautiful. From here flows the Yellow River — mother of Chinese civilization. He had walked all four directions. He had written it all down. He stood at the summit and looked out at everything he had crossed. The Book of Mountains was complete. And the world had never been so precisely, so lovingly, so impossibly described. 🎬 JudyFan & Capy Films 📺 Soul & Light Tags: 山海经, Shan Hai Jing, Classic of Mountains and Seas, Central Mountains, 中山经, 帝江, Chinese mythology, ancient China, mythical creatures, Yellow River, Chinese philosophy
