President Donald Trump warned that U.S. military strikes against Iran will continue and expand to target critical infrastructure like power plants and bridges next week unless the regime returns to the negotiating table. In an interview with Fox News, the president asserted that current airstrikes have successfully degraded Iran’s military capabilities to a low level. While the president initially planned to charge a 20-percent fee on cargo transiting the Strait of Hormuz to pay for U.S. military safe passage, he backed off the plan after hearing concerns from allies in the Gulf Cooperation Council. Instead of charging a passage fee, Trump stated that ally nations would spend a significant amount of money in the United States, keeping the shipping lane free for all commercial traffic except Iran.
