Exploring Anglesey's 7 Lighthouses by Brompton
I caught the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead with my Brompton and tent, setting off on a four night bikepacking adventure around Anglesey, the largest island off the coast of Wales. My goal was to visit all seven of the island's iconic lighthouses: Breakwater Holyhead, South Stack, Skerries, Lynas Point, Penmon, Tŵr Mawr and Tŵr Bach. The lighthouses provided a wonderful focus for the journey, giving each day a clear goal while leading me to some of the most spectacular corners of the island. Along the way I cycled quiet country lanes, scenic coastal roads and traffic-free paths, discovering dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, hidden coves and breathtaking sea views. One of the real highlights was experiencing Anglesey's incredible coastline. Whether riding beside the Irish Sea, watching the changing tides or taking time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, every part of the island had something unique to offer. I also enjoyed some excellent local food and cafés, which were a welcome reward after long days in the saddle. Menai Bridge and Britannia Bridge also came into view during the trip, providing the links between Anglesey and mainland Wales and offering some fantastic viewpoints in their own right. If you're thinking of exploring Anglesey by bike, I hope this video gives you some inspiration for your own adventure!
