A Name By Any Other Name: FedRAMP Terminology and the New Class System
The FedRAMP name is just as sweet. We're folding back the outer layers of new terminologies like "authorizations" and "certifications" for starters. And later, we talk about how FedRAMP is moving away from FIPS 199 security categorizations, and more about how we're adopting a new class system when it comes to FedRAMP certifications listed on the FedRAMP Marketplace. On May 4, 2026, we published the "Public Preview of the Consolidated Rules for 2026" blog post where we shared updates to "the FedRAMP Marketplace impact levels to classes as outlined in the previously released FedRAMP notice, NTC-004." Review NTC-004 here: https://www.fedramp.gov/notices/0004/.
