Huskies vs. The Great Michigan Flood of 2026!

It has been a wild 24 hours here in Northern Michigan! After a massive rainstorm dumped 2 inches of rain on top of melting snow and ice, we woke up to no power and widespread flooding. We took a drive around our local area to check out the dams and the rising water levels. Some areas are even under "Ready, Set, Go" evacuation orders because of the risk of old dams breaking. While we are safe on higher ground, seeing the water rushing over roads and into people's yards is truly intense! After checking on the local infrastructure, we headed into the woods to see how our favorite trails held up. We found down trees, rushing culverts, and even some hidden waterfalls that don't normally exist! Jamie had to do some heavy lifting to clear a tree off the trail so we could keep exploring. Even with all the chaos, the temperatures jumped up to a beautiful 67 degrees, making it feel like spring has finally arrived in the north woods. We finished the day with a long walk with our three Siberian Huskies: Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor. Eleanor was quite the chatterbox as usual, and the girls were so excited to finally see grass instead of snow! It’s crazy how fast the weather changes here—from 60 degrees and sunny to freezing temperatures in just a few hours. Life is short, make memories with your dogs, even when things get a little soggy!
