Organic chemistry mein 1^\circ (Primary), 2^\circ (Secondary), aur 3^\circ (Tertiary) ka classification ek behad mahatvapurna concept hai. Yeh is baat par nirbhar karta hai ki koi functional group kis carbon se juda hai, ya fir amines ke case mein, nitrogen atom seedhe kitne carbon atoms se connect hai. ​Chalo isko poori detail mein aur aasan bhasha mein samajhte hain, alkyl groups se shuru karte hue. ​1. Alkyl Groups (Alkyl Samuh) ​Jab kisi Alkane (jaise Methane CH_4, Ethane C_2H_6) mein se ek Hydrogen (H) atom ko hata diya jata hai, toh jo bacha hua group hota hai use hum Alkyl group kehte hain. Iska general formula C_nH_{2n+1} hota hai aur ise chemistry mein 'R' se darshaya jata hai. ​Methane (CH_4) : Ek H nikala : Methyl group (-CH_3) ​Ethane (C_2H_6) : Ek H nikala : Ethyl group (-C_2H_5) ​Alkyl groups ke andar maujood carbons ko unki bonding ke aadhar par teen bhaagon mein baanta jata hai: ​1^\circ (Primary) Carbon: Jo carbon atom sirf ek hi alag carbon atom se (ya kisi se bhi nahi, jaise methyl mein) directly juda ho. ​2^\circ (Secondary) Carbon: Jo carbon atom directly do alag carbon atoms se juda ho. ​3^\circ (Tertiary) Carbon: Jo carbon atom directly teen alag carbon atoms se ghira ho. ​2. Types of Alcohols (1^\circ, 2^\circ, 3^\circ) ​Alcohol ka functional group -OH (Hydroxyl group) hota hai. Kisi alcohol ki degree is baat se tay hoti hai ki -OH group jis carbon se attach hai, woh carbon aage kitne alag carbons se juda hua hai. ​A. Primary Alcohol (1^\circ Alcohol) ​Definition: Ismein -OH group ek Primary (1^\circ) carbon se juda hota hai. Yaani woh carbon aage sirf ek hi alkyl group ya carbon se connect hota hai. ​Structure: R-CH_2-OH ​Example: Ethanol (CH_3-CH_2-OH) ​Property: Inka oxidation aasani se ho jata hai.
