Jago 167| Piramida Suci Nusantara: Situs Megalitikum Pugung Raharjo, Lampung
Today, we'll visit the Indonesian pyramid of Pugung Raharjo, said to have been built in 2500 BC. Perhaps it's fitting to begin your journey to the Holy Land by bathing in the sacred waters of the megalithic pool, which predates the time of the Prophet Abraham. In Lampung, there has indeed been a culture dating back to ancient times, as exemplified by the Polynesian megalithic statues housed in the Archaeological Museum near the Pugung Raharjo site. Polynesian sculptures are characterized by stone or wood carvings that become increasingly larger as they rise. Interestingly, this Indonesian statue depicts a man adorned with various ornaments, his hair tied in a bun, and a dagger (keris?) tucked into his belt at the back. A Buddhist-influenced statue has also been found from the classical period, with hands forming the Dharmacakra mudra. Unlike similar statues in Indonesia, the stone of this statue appears to contain crystal fragments that can be seen reflecting light when a flashlight is shone on it. This statue was found in one of the terraced pyramids at the Pugung Raharjo site, along with numerous Chinese pottery pieces from the Tang to Ming dynasties. However, this site has existed since the Stone Age, as evidenced by numerous megalithic artifacts found in the form of menhirs, stone axes, perforated stones, incised stones, and other artifacts. Many phallic-shaped menhirs are found in the Batu Mayat complex. It is so named because the main menhir, a symbol of male fertility, was found in a sleeping position, resembling a corpse. Batu Mayat has now been re-erected. Nearby, there are also stones symbolizing female fertility. The Pugung Raharjo site is actually a fortress, surrounded by an earthen wall. There are seven terraced pyramids (punden berundah) here. The largest is number 7, consisting of three terraces. Near the seventh terraced pyramid, there is a megalithic pool with crystal-clear water. Local people believe in the sanctity of the water in this pool, which supposedly grants eternal youth to those who bathe in it. After refreshing ourselves from soaking in this pool, Murrin and I headed back towards Bandar Lampung, where we were greeted by a rainbow, a sign of blessing. ___ Sumatra Stage 1 Route: Jakarta - Bandar Lampung - Baturaja - Lahat - Pagar Alam - Bengkulu - Lebong Tandai - Kerinci - Jambi - Pekanbaru - Dumai - Melaka *Route subject to change **Follow my Instagram for real-time updates ***Message me for sponsorship --- Music Credits: "And Awaken - Stings" by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
