HoYag Laser Safety -Skin & Eye Burns
Here we show the very small distance where burns could occur from the fiber tip to skin and eye. The principles here apply to both the Holmium and Thulium lasers. It shows how close you must be to a wood tongue blade in order to flame it (would also apply to paper drapes), and distance from both skin and surface of the eye where burns would NOT occur. Your own Laser Safety Officer determines where safety eyewear must be used, but this demonstrates the very small area where it really is a hazard.
