He also teaches general relativity at the Gran Sasso Scientific Institute for Advanced Studies (L'Aquila) and is an honorary professor at the State Pedagogical University of Tomsk (Russia). He is a member of the Accademia Nazionale di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti (Naples, Italy), and the Serbian Academy of Nonlinear Sciences (Belgrade, Serbia). He has supervised over 40 doctoral and 70 master's students in physics and mathematics. He has spent several periods of his scientific career in the USA, Germany, Poland, Great Britain, Russia, South Africa, Canada, Brazil, and Japan. His research activities are primarily devoted to general relativity, cosmology, and relativistic astrophysics in their theoretical and phenomenological aspects. His main scientific achievements concern the possibility of explaining the phenomena of dark energy and dark matter using geometric invariants extending general relativity to more general classes of theories. The results of this research have been published in over 700 articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals, achieving an impressive number of nearly 35,000 citations with a Hirsch index of h=87! He is also the author of monographs on extended theories of gravity, gravitational lensing, cosmology, and general relativity (ed. Cambridge, Springer, Bibliopolis, Liguori). He was included in the top 2% of scientists in the world at Stanford University and in the top 10 Italian scientists for 2024-2025. Introduction to the forum: Following the previously held session N2 on the dark universe, the aim of this session will be to present numerous theoretical proposals that attempt to address the problem of the existence of unknown forms of matter. These theories are primarily related to extensions of Albert Einstein's theory of gravity, which underpins modern cosmology. These include theories with scalar, vector, and tensor fields, more complex forms of gravitational interactions, theories unifying interactions in physics, theories with additional spatial dimensions, and so on. However, these theories can only "threaten" Einstein's theory if they are confirmed by observational data and exhibit better agreement than Einstein's theory. These topics will be presented during the session by lecturers and workshop participants: Prof. Salvatore Capozziello from the University of Naples in Italy, Prof. Emannuel Saridakis from the University of Athens in Greece, Dr. Aneta Wojnar from the University of Wrocław, Prof. Adam Balcerzak, Prof. Vincenzo Salzano, and Prof. Tomasz Denkiewicz from the University of Szczecin. #science #physics #cosmology
