Gartside Skiff Ep2 Clinker Planking
This 12' Paul Gartside outboard-powered clinker or lapstrake skiff was built at the Wooden Boat Centre Tasmania in the southern town of Franklin with a team led by Ian Smith, the retired founder of the Sydney Wooden Boat School who has over 50 years of experience in building wooden boats and boatbuilding education. In this episode the team lines off the hull to determine where the clinker planks will go and then begin to plank up using Huon Pine, an extremely durable timber native to Southern Tasmania. The hull is planked up halfway through the 8-week course. See the whole series on YouTube@SmithysBoatshed
