"From the Rice Fields... to a New York Gallery" Who would have thought that a country boy who raised buffaloes and couldn't afford school would have an art exhibition in New York? "Kru Pan," or Mr. Somnuk Khlangnok, grew up in Buriram, raising buffaloes, fishing for crabs, and fish, without even money to attend school. However, a crayon lesson in art class in first grade opened the boy's eyes to the wonders of a new world: art. Due to poverty, Kru Pan chose to become a monk. During his ordination, he studied both religious and secular studies. One day, fate brought him to meet Mom Rajawongse Tassanee Sutassanee, and he studied art seriously with Kru To, M.L. Chirathorn, in Bangkok. Five years of training, finding his own identity, and daring to do things "out of the norm," led Kru Pan to discover his own style. He is characterized by large eyes, a small nose, and thin lips, reflecting his creativity and inner freedom. He began gaining experience, meeting people in the art world, and pursuing a career as a photographer and illustrator. One day, he was invited to exhibit in Singapore. It turned out to be a sold-out show within three days, so the Singapore gallery, convinced that Kru Pan's work was a good fit, took her to Singapore, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, and finally New York. It was called the Affordable Art Fair. It was Kru Pan's dream to have a show in New York at least once in his life. It was the starting point that introduced Kru Pan's work to the public, and today he is one of the most highly sought-after artists. The first painting Kru Pan painted sold for 1,000 baht, but the buyer bought several more, and he helped donate the proceeds to underprivileged children. Today, Kru Pan's work has been auctioned for 1 million baht to help underprivileged children. Kru Pan was once a temple boy, a country boy with nothing. Kru Pan believes in "opportunity" and "education." He dreamed that if he had been given opportunities by others, he would one day want to pass those same opportunities on to other children.
