Raja Ampat Cape Kri shallow 2022-2026

The Dampier Strait in Raja Ampat is home to the richest coral reefs on Earth. This video is an eye witness account of the ecological change that has occurred at Cape Kri , site of the Guinness Word record for the greatest number of fish species counted during a single SCUBA dive. In 2012, Gerald Allen counted 374 species in 90 minutes. The Raja Ampat Marine Protected Area Marine Park was established in 2004. Today it is visited by tens of thousands of diving enthusiasts that fuel an estimated 300 million USD economy along with +26 million poop-days worth of raw sewage that adds excess nitrogen, bacteria, and a host of other pollutants to the once pristine waters that enabled these reefs to evolve at the junction of the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
