Coil-Loaded… But Actually GOOD?! Radioddity HF-009 Portable HF Antenna

I took this center-loaded, coil-loaded portable HF antenna from unboxing to a real-world week of use, including 35 mph winds, a high-RFI suburban backyard test, and field operating. Why I’m impressed with the HF-009 -Excellent build quality right out of the case (tight couplings, no flex) -Thread protectors included (small detail, big win for portable gear) -Everything fits in a compact carry case: antenna sections, ground spike, loading coil, ground radials, --BNC adapter, and coax connection hardware -Easy assembly: stake → poles → loading coil → whip → radials → coax -Simple tuning by sliding the coil tap for best SWR (small adjustments matter) Real-world results Over the course of a week, the HF-009 handled wind and daily use without issue. I logged 50 contacts, including distances up to 8,000 miles. I’ve used other coil-loaded HF antennas that didn’t impress me, but this center-loading design seems to work way better than expected.
