Can I Survive My First Ultra Marathon | Ultra North 55k 2021 (Newcastle & North East Trail Run)

It’s finally here — my first ever ultramarathon! Join me as I take on the Ultra North 55 (2021), a tough but beautiful 55km race through Newcastle and the North East. Starting at Swalwell Cricket Ground, the route follows the River Derwent to the River Tyne, into the heart of Newcastle city centre, across the iconic Millennium Bridge, and back out towards Wylam and Chopwell Woods before returning to the finish. This video captures the highs, lows, and everything in between: ✅ The excitement of the start line with hundreds of runners ✅ Stunning views along the Tyne and Quayside ✅ Trail sections through Chopwell Woods with challenging climbs ✅ The grind of the final 10km, complete with calf cramps and mental battles ✅ The relief (and joy!) of crossing the Ultra North 55 finish line Running alongside friends and fellow first-time ultra runners, this was truly one of the hardest but most rewarding runs I’ve ever attempted. 👉 If you’re curious about UK ultramarathons, trail running in the North East, or what it takes to complete 55km, this race-day vlog is for you!
