The animals enjoy the best feed and regular exercise, unless there is a free-stall barn, to ensure appropriate animal welfare. As soon as it is possible in spring, the animals are let out to pasture and get fresh grass. The right fertilization plays a major role here. Nutrient loss during storage, leaching into the groundwater and odor nuisance due to emissions during application are the main problems. Biochar counteracts these points and builds up the humus content in the soil. This is why it is mixed into the fertilizer in the stable. The recommended amount for stable manure is around 1-1.5%, the same for liquid manure, i.e. 10-12 liters/m3.
